Drumcullen club notes

Club Notes -9th April 2019

Senior ‘B’ Hurling Championship

Drumcullen 0-16

Lusmagh 0-14

Trailing 0-8 to 0-7 at the break, Drumcullen put in a decent second half performance to edge this game played in lovely conditions in Kinnitty on Saturday evening. This game could have gone either way and Lusmagh will probably rue some missed chances while Drumcullen used limited possession to good effect. In the course of the game Drumcullen were awarded a meagre two frees in the opposition half in the entire game. While there might be a case on some refereeing decisions, it also reflects a dearth of possession won in that area over the hour. On the other hand Drumcullen conceded many needless frees and were fortunate that some were not converted. It is unusual to single out any individual player for mention, on this occasion Ray Gath must be applauded for an outstanding contribution, not only in his five points from play from midfield but also his work-rate in both defence and attack. Drumcullen have collected full points from their two games and players and management must take credit for this situation heading into the long summer break. Team: E. Gath, D. Mahon, D. Guinan, D. Maher, J. Cashin, P. Guinan, C. Guinan, K. Fleury, R. Gath (0-5), S. Hanrahan (0-1), D. Gath,(0-1), Colm Gath (0-3), M. Kennedy, Conor Gath (0-5), D. Spain (0-1). Subs used: H. Ryan, J. Murray
