AGM

The Club AGM will be held in the Clubhouse on Friday 24th January at 8pm. All proposals and nominations need to be given to the club secretary Dermot Horan by Friday 17th November. Please come and have your say.

Couch to 5K

We are running a couch to 5K event, starting 6th January and every Mon and Wed for 10 weeks. It’s open to everyone from Walkers to wannabe joggers and cost €10. It’s still not too late to join.

Puc Fada

The annual hurling Puc Fada took place on St. Stephens Day from Rath to Fivealley. A great day was had by all. Many thanks to The Fivealley Inn and Colleen Spain for the refreshments served afterwards.

The club wishes Sean Hynes a speedy recovery from his recent illness.

Puc Fada

The annual hurling Puc Fada on the road takes place again on St. Stephens Day at 11:am from Rath to Fivealley. Refreshments will be served in The Fivealley Inn afterwards. Entry for adults is €10 and €5 for underage. This is a great family fun day and all are welcome.

Graduation

Our graduation ceremony from the underage Liam Lyons Academy was held on Wednesday last. Special guest Offaly Hurler of the Year, Ben Conneely presented certificates to Jack Molloy, MacDara Murphy and Michael Hackett. Liam Lyons, who the academy was named after was also remembered on the night. Liam began his hurling with these lads. His sister Creagh accepted his certificate. Huge thanks to Ben for attending and for his inspirational words of encouragement to the lads. Also thanks to the ladies who provided the refreshments.

Table Quiz

The academy will be holding a table Quiz in the hall for underage players on the 27th December at 7;00 in Rath Hall. All invited.

Club Notes -29th October 2019

U15B Hurling Semi-final

Our U15 hurlers were defeated by Coolderry in the B final on Sunday morning in Kinnitty. The team were without the services of Jack Mooney and PJ Bracken due to illness. Having trailed by 0-3 to 2-9 at half time after a poor start the lads battled back in the second half with two early goals from Brian Pardy and Cathal Bergin. However after a couple of points from Drumcullen Seir Kieran, Coolderry rallied again with another goal which sealed the result for the stronger team on the day. The highlight for Drumcullen Seir Kieran was a superb penalty save by goalkeeper Killian Spain. The final score was 2-8 to 3-16. We still have an U15 hurling league final for this t am to look forward to.

 

Jack Weir tournament

The U12’ continued their success in this tournament on Thursday night last having overcome Ballinamere in the semi-final by the narrowest of margins. They then faced Kilcormace Killoughey in the final on Sunday evening last in Ballinamere. Conceding two goals early in the first half left the team trailing by 2:03 to 0:04 at half time. However the lads put on fantastic display in the second half, however it wasn’t to be their night and eventually finished up 2:06 to 1:05. The team were
