Club Notes -27th August 2018

Senior ‘B’ Hurling Championship.

Drumcullen 1-21

Carrig & Riverstown 0-23.

This narrow win at Birr on Sunday morning ensured a place in the quarter finals after a roller-coaster type campaign. Interestingly the four wins in the competition came against the two teams at the top and the bottom of the table following seven games. This game was in the balance throughout and the final whistle was greeted with relief. The minimum separated the teams at the break – 1-10 to 0-12 – as the lead changed hands a number of times. Drumcullen continued to lead but were never able to put themselves in a commanding position. We must acknowledge the leadership role of Dermot Gath who was outstanding, particularly in the second half although every player contributed in some way to this important win.. Drumcullen will now meet Shamrocks probably on the weekend of September 8/9. Team: E. Gath, B. O’Meara, D.Guinan, B. Kinsella, J. Cashin, Colm Gath (0-1), D. Maher, C. Guinan, R. Gath (0-1), D. Spain (0-2), D. Gath (0-2), S. Hanrahan (0-1), Conor Gath (1-10), T. Leahy (0-1), J.Murray (0-2), Subs used: H. Ryan, P. Guinan (0-1), J. McCarthy
